Tricon’s 5D interpolation currently utilizes a source x, source y, receiver x, receiver y in order to organize the observed traces into interpolation windows. The spacial sequencing of the source and receiver stations is analyzed to determine where there is enough data to create new stations and generate the interpolated data using a minimum weighted norm algorithm. Interactive programs are used to set up and visualize the effects of various binning and weighting parameters in order to optimally tune the 5D interpolation for the best results.
